First day in the Garage

Today was the first day of filming our short film. We started on the garages scenes since they were the opening and closing scenes. I drove Britanique there, and the drive was so long. The draw bridge got stuck open, and a 10-minute drive turned into 45. When we finally arrived, the parking was crazy, but we got super lucky. Siena struggled with parking and arrived almost an hour late, but she finally got there.

Britanique spent time scouting the exact location and angles we wanted in our film. At the same time, Siena and I ran lines for scenes. The shots were very difficult to get because of the location. The cars in the garage kept honking at each other because of the traffic. One shot we got was perfect until an ambulance came by and ruined the audio, then people walked in front of the camera in another. On top of the challenges of filming in a public place, this was the first film Siena had ever acted in, so giving her stage directions was a challenge, and she messed up her lines a lot. Nonetheless, we got the shot, then had to redo it all over again for the end shot. We had to deal with the same public place problems, but this time Siena had worked out all the kinks.

We then had to do the stairs scene, which by some miracle, was one take. We then started to the hallway take, which was interrupted by a group of boys flooding our shot on bikes. They were messing around going up and down the garage. We got the shot and had planned to film the elevator shot there. It was complete chaos, and we were not able to hold the elevator and shoot in one. We gave up and attempted to research other elevators we could film in and left for the day. It was the same long line to leave, but it was a successful day.
