Organizing the Shots

Image
Today I was swamped with things to do. I am running for SGA President. In order to do this, I must create a campaign. I needed to record and make a speech. I must also come up with headshots and a slogan. Eden was also very busy. She was working at her job doing a shift. Me and Britanique video chatted to communicate so I could talk with her. I had to multitask on my campaign and assist her with organizing the videos. For every scene, we took multiple takes. Unfortunately, Eden could not join our call.  Over the course of the call, she had shared her screen. We reviewed the videos together to decide what was the best take. I was also simultaneously getting ready for the shoot. When picking out a video the factor we were looking at was lighting consistency. We also looked to make sure the scenes were shot at the correct angle we had previously decided. We had pieced the selected shots together in chronological order. That was all we had time for before we had to go. Next time we will h

Get Ready for the Big Screen

I was also in charge of driving Britanique today. After I had picked her up I needed to get some supplies I had run out of in order to do the makeup for the sequence. We made a pit stop at party city to get the supplies and a snack before the shoot. We finally arrived at Eden's house to film at 5:30 p.m. This time we went upstairs quickly and got started. First, she introduced us to her sister. I was in charge of makeup and styling her sister to play the part of our antagonist in the film.  I started by applying a base primer to her skin. This would prevent any staining when I would eventually be using heavy products. Then I started making outlines of all the fake bruising I would create. Next, I added in shading which would give the bruises depth, and applied the fake horns. Finally, I added in the fake blood. This always brings the look together. I finished up her makeup and put on her wig. To style it I messed it up a bit and allowed the horns to peak through. One thing I assis

First day Filming Fatigue

Image
Today was the first day we had time to film. It was after school on an early release day. It was also the last day of the quarter, so I had a massive paper due for another AICE class. I had stayed up the whole night before putting the finishing touches on the paper. I was exhausted and had already fallen asleep once in class. So I was not much help to my group. I was so tired that I forgot to bring the prop with us to film after school. I had already driven almost to school when I realized. I had to have my mom bring it with her to work because I live so far from school, but she works right down the street. So after school, I drove one of my group members to the other house. We stopped and picked up the doll from my mom on the way. Then we went to Eden's place.   Eden's house was our filming destination. When we arrived we were first introduced to her cats. They were very playful and were the cause of many of our bloopers. My role today was mainly to direct. I was setting up t

Dollie Up-do

For our movie sequence, we will be using several props. I own one of the props we will use, the doll. It actually sparked the idea that the doll will be tied into the vision of murder the girl will have. However, this doll is old and has been in storage for quite some time. And before that, I had purchased her from a local thrift store as a child. To get her in decent shape again, she needed a little TLC. It was simple maintenance, such as re-tying her shoes. Which was a bit hard. They are very tiny laces. Fixer her hair was the other tricky thing hit got very frizzy, so I had to wet it down and trim it a bit. I also lint rolled her dress and adjusted it.    I did get curious, though, if I could find out her origin. So I examined the doll led me to find out she was made in 1996 by The Heritage Mint, LTD . Then, I did some research and found out she is from The Platinum Collection for the company's 20th anniversary. In her original packaging, she also came with a white fur cuff.

Assessing the Accident

Unfortunately, we have made a mistake with our script. Unfortunately, this transpired into a mistake being made on the storyboard. I did not catch this as I was not in charge of either. I made the foolish mistake of trusting my group members to do everything on their own. I should have helped them and checked that we were all on the same page while maintaining various angles. We were all at fault for this. No one caught that we forgot to write in the angle of shot-reverse-shot.  Originally the script was supposed to end with a roommate conversing with the leading actor.  It would immediately follow her interaction with the doll after having her dream. They would have been discussing how upset the girl was over it.  We removed the scene because we believed it would take too much time.  Now the main girl will just pick up the doll. With that arises the problem of not having a shot-reverse-shot. The group decided to showcase how we could use different angles when filming. The script is

Sound Search

Image
Today I was searching for sound effects for our opening sequence.  I was using Youtube as it is full of royalty-free sounds. I wanted the sound effects to not be copy-righted so I would not have to wait for permission from the creator before using them. The sequence will be heavily focused on the sound effects to convey the idea. The sound effects are small details but I find that they can completely shift how a person views what they are watching. If the audio isn't right it could change the whole feeling received from it.    The first audio I needed to find was a harp being strung. This would be in scene one of the sequence. This sound is typically associated with a dream start. That is exactly how I intend to edit it into the sequence. Our main character is dreaming so we want to convey that as obviously as possible.  This was hard because I had an ideal sound in my head and most of the audios were not matching up with what I was expecting.         The other audio I looked for

Perfect Picturama

This paper shows the first few seconds of the movie. It begins with an establishing shot of the outside of the house. It then pans to a close-up of a woman getting water from the kitchen faucet. Next, a man calls the woman from the living room, telling her the show is starting. A tracking shot then shows her walking towards the living room. Finally, it ends with her plopping down on the couch.  This sheet shows a close-up of the movie playing on the T.V. It's then an over-the-shoulder shot of the staircase where a little girl is standing with a doll in her hand. We then see the stairs, which emit a creaking sound. Next, the camera pans back to the living room, where the couple is lying on the ground dead. Finally, we see the little girl with the doll in her hand, panning up from their bodies. This sheet begins in a bedroom where a girl jumps up from a dream. It then zooms in on her face for a close-up where she looks shocked and is panting. Finally, she gets out of bed and walks
